Many rear passengers feel safer in the back, assuming that they are less vulnerable in the event of a collision. However, research shows that the opposite is true. The front seat often provides a buffer, and in head-on crashes, unbelted rear passengers are thrown forward, risking more severe injury not only to themselves but also to front-seat occupants.
Furthermore, a common misconception is that the back seat is inherently safer, which isn't always the case. Without seat belts, passengers are vulnerable to being thrown around or ejected from the vehicle during accidents, leading to fatal or devastating injuries.
