However, everything changed dramatically on December 10th. Off the coast of Venezuela, U.S. forces executed a highly coordinated military operation that would reshape the landscape of American foreign policy. Special operators from the Coast Guard and FBI, supported by the USS Gerald Ford, stormed a massive stateless crude oil tanker, seized control at gunpoint, and redirected it toward American shores. To the outside world, it was a stunning display of force—reminiscent of a scene straight out of a Tom Clancy novel.
