Levi was candid—he believed endorsing Trump during his initial campaign might have been career suicide, especially given the liberal tilt of Hollywood. His public support for Tulsi Gabbard and RFK Jr. was driven by conviction, not strategy, and he expressed relief that it did not jeopardize his work.
He noted, however, that some in the industry have gone further: speaking out against Levi, criticizing his energy and demeanor, and possibly attempting to tarnish his reputation. For example, former Broadway colleague Laura Benanti aired negative opinions about Levi in a recent podcast, describing him as “annoying” and claiming he wanted to be the center of attention with his “dance party energy.”
