Part 2/11:
Construction of the Bataan Nuclear Power Plant commenced in the 1970s, with the explicit goal of reducing dependence on fossil fuels such as oil and coal. The plant was built on a sprawling 389 hectares of land—equivalent to 544 football fields—at a cost of approximately $1.9 billion USD. It was designed to produce 620 megawatts of power, capable of generating enough electricity to supply more than half a million homes 24 hours a day.
