In subsequent decades, reforms such as removing the double weightages for language subjects and introducing the scoring system’s modern form sought to mitigate pressure. Yet, paradoxically, these moves seem insufficient. The recent shift from T-scores to achievement levels, reducing the scoring range from over 200 to just 29, aims to lessen fine differentiation. Still, many parents remain anxious, especially as small score differences can determine access to prestigious secondary schools and impact future pathways.
