The most ambitious project to date is Google’s Project Suncatcher, which aims to establish a space-based AI cluster. The plan involves linking dozens of satellites via ultra-high-speed laser communication links capable of reaching 10 terabits per second. Prototypes are expected to launch by early 2027, with the hope that by 2030, data storage and processing might often be located above regions like Madagascar, fundamentally shifting our perception of data centers.
