At the same time, representation of white individuals has declined across most roles. In 2011, white writers occupied over 72% of staff roles, but by 2020, this figure had decreased to approximately 44%. Conversely, the share of Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPAC) saw analogous shifts, with double-digit declines in representation among white males and increases among women and individuals from minority backgrounds.
