Fast forward to 2014, Thailand found itself embroiled in intense political turmoil. Bangkok, the nation's capital, was gripped by conflict between two rival factions: the Red Shirts and the Yellow Shirts. The Red Shirts, comprising mainly rural supporters of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, aligned with populist policies aimed at uplifting the rural poor. Conversely, the Yellow Shirts, predominantly royalist urban middle-class nationalists, opposed these policies and supporters of Yingluck's brother, Thaksin Shinawatra, a controversial billionaire politician.
