Part 8/12:
Recognizing the severity of the situation, the Singapore government has initiated measures to enhance migrant worker housing. New "quick build" dormitories have been launched, featuring more spacious rooms with five single beds spaced at least one meter apart, each equipped with ensuite toilets and showers. These facilities also include larger communal spaces, kitchens, and recreational areas designed to promote better health and social distancing.
These measures are viewed as temporary solutions but also serve as models for the long-term transformation of migrant worker living arrangements. Over the next year, more dormitories are planned, with the aim of providing about 25,000 additional beds.
