Part 2/12:
In 2011, Myanmar initiated a series of democratic reforms that marked a significant departure from its long-standing military rule. These reforms included liberalizing key sectors such as oil exploration, retail, wholesale trade, telecoms, insurance, and banking. The landmark victory of Aung San Suu Kyi and her National League for Democracy (NLD) in the 2015 elections further cemented this new democratic trajectory, fueling optimism and attracting increased foreign investment.
