In fact, Hollywood seems to be compensating age by re-assigning roles — shifting the age range of women playing roles that historically went to women in their twenties and thirties to those in their mid and late 30s or even 40s. The "30s to 40s" range now often includes women who, a decade ago, would have played romantic leads in their twenties.
