The Changing Understanding and Response Strategies
In the early stages, Singapore managed to suppress community transmission from imported cases originating from Wuhan. However, from mid-March onward, an increase in daily imported cases—many of whom returned from abroad as countries closed borders—began to seed local outbreaks. Contact tracing teams worked tirelessly, partnering with the armed forces to boost capacity to around 800-900 tracers, and measures like travel advisories and mandatory self-isolation for arrivals were implemented.
