While voters celebrated this historic change, an investigation revealed a coordinated online campaign designed to undermine this democratic process. A Reuters journalist flagged the issue after noticing a surge in Twitter activity surrounding the hashtags #SayNoToPH and #DefeatPH. Upon closer inspection, researchers identified around 22,000 accounts engaging in this campaign, of which an astonishing 98% were bots—automated accounts programmed to promote specific messages.
