One inspiring example is the Pitcher Project, founded by young Malaysians Kim Manila and friends in 2016. It is a catering business that employs refugees, including Nella from Iraq, who uses her skills to support her five children. The project not only provides refugees with a much-needed income—around 2,500 Ringgit monthly—but also fosters cultural exchange and understanding through open food events that invite Malaysians to meet and engage with refugees beyond stereotypes.
