In Malaysia’s Arab restaurants and informal sectors, refugees often work under poor conditions or illegal arrangements, risking detention or deportation during police raids. Contracts are rare, and unpaid wages are commonplace. Efforts by the government to issue work visas for some refugees are limited and bureaucratic, leaving many in precarious employment.
