In Western cultures especially, we are conditioned to recognize hierarchy and status from a young age, often through advertising and social media. Advertising's two primary goals are to trigger comparison and instill a sense of inadequacy—beliefs that become ingrained in us over time. Social media amplifies this effect, constantly exposing us to curated images of success and perfection.
