Following her resignation, an interim government was established, led by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus. The ruling Awami League was banned, and a subsequent tribunal was convened to investigate allegations of war crimes and abuses committed during the protests. Several key figures were sentenced: Hassina’s close aide and former home minister Assadu Zaman Khan received a death sentence, while a former police chief who testified against Hassina was sentenced to five years in prison.
