What is more astonishing is how easily fans and observers accept these performative antics. The staged fainting, crying fits, and dramatic displays seem to generate more admiration than criticism. Fans even excuse or romanticize these displays, expressing concern for the artists’ mental health or interpreting their vulnerabilities as signs of authenticity. Critics argue, however, that these performances are manipulative and diminish the art form itself.
