The discussion extends to how current devices like iPhones could be affected. Since iOS devices also leverage 32-bit timekeeping, the maximum timestamp they can handle is about 2.4 billion seconds. Many older models—like the iPhone 5—are at risk of experiencing problems as the date nears. Given that newer phones have moved away from 32-bit systems, older hardware might be the most vulnerable.
Interestingly, some experts point out that Apple products, along with other proprietary systems, tend to become obsolete or intentionally limited by planned obsolescence, possibly reducing the actual impact over time. Still, the concern remains valid for legacy devices still in use.
