Part 12/15:
A disturbing trend is the blatant sharing and memorialization of morbid or personal moments—such as amputated limbs, surgeries, or even death. TikTok users documented and shared funeral-like videos of amputated arms, describing them as "victims" and expressing gratitude or nostalgia. These acts of sharing personal trauma online, for attention or catharsis, demonstrate how social media blurs the boundary between private grief and public spectacle. Such tendencies suggest a culture increasingly desensitized and obsessed with morbidity.
Similarly, individuals displaying extreme vanity, like rib removal surgeries to achieve a tiny waist, or sharing disembodied organs, highlight a willingness to push biomedical ethical boundaries for aesthetic or shock value.
