The industry tends to prioritize the protection of the business—its profit margins and reputation—over the safety of its workers.
A Call for Greater Awareness and Safety Measures
As nightlife venues reopen post-pandemic, the need to address these safety concerns becomes even more urgent. Workers must be adequately protected from coercion, violence, and exploitation. The reality is that many women voluntarily enter this space motivated by economic necessity, but that does not justify a lack of safeguards.
