Economically, Alberta already functions in many respects as an independent economy. Its oil and natural gas sectors operate with significant autonomy, trading predominantly with the U.S. and global markets in dollars and following continental demand. The current federal system redistributes wealth from resource-producing provinces like Alberta and Saskatchewan to less productive regions, leading to dissatisfaction among those producing the wealth they believe is being unfairly taxed and redistributed.

Moving towards independence would allow these provinces to retain their earnings, control infrastructure, and pursue policies aligned with their interests—resulting in better economic stability, higher wages, and more predictable investment environments.
