Part 2/7:
One of the most notable incidents linked to Red Shirt protests took place in 2010 at Central World Plaza, one of Thailand's largest shopping centers, located in the Ratchaprasong district. This mall, a symbol of commerce and modernity, became a battleground after the Red Shirts staged a protest. The Thai government at the time, led by the Democrat Party, responded with a crackdown, which escalated tensions. In retaliation, Red Shirt protesters set parts of the mall on fire, causing destruction and chaos. Today, the rebuilt mall stands as a stark reminder of that violence, its sleek modernity contrasting sharply with its history of unrest.
