Furthermore, Gilliam pointed out the difficulty of transporting a body across the U.S.-Mexico border in the middle of the night, given the vast and complex border terrain. Crossing into Mexico would entail navigating numerous routes, some of which are easier to monitor or harder to access, and the physical challenge of moving a human body long distances under the cover of darkness.
