Envisioning a multigenerational mission—sending a society or colony to sustain the journey—presents its own set of insurmountable challenges. Maintaining political stability, social cohesion, cultural continuity, and shared purpose over tens of thousands of years is virtually impossible. Human civilizations evolve rapidly; languages change, beliefs shift, and technological paradigms are forgotten. What would keep a mission alive over such timescales? How would knowledge be preserved and passed along?
