Tesla's relationship with LG isn't new. The automaker has been primarily using prismatic LFP cells for its Energy Storage products, including Powerwalls and Megapacks. Tesla is now planning to leverage LG's new production lines to build larger energy storage solutions at its Texas facility, where plans are underway to convert an existing plant into a mega factory for Megapacks that can utilize LFP cells.
