While running a household and caring for children are undeniably important roles, it’s critical to maintain perspective about what these tasks entail. Modern appliances, automation, and shared responsibilities have greatly reduced the physical and mental burden of domestic chores.
Portraying these activities as martyrdom or systemic oppression can distort the reality, making meaningful conversations about gender equality more difficult. A fairer approach acknowledges the value of household work without exaggerating its difficulty—recognizing that, in our modern society, pressing a few buttons is a far cry from the hardships faced by manual laborers in history.
