This tendency is deeply ingrained and evolutionary. The brain's primary function is survival, and that makes it predisposed to focus on danger and issues. When we encounter a situation, our brain evaluates the potential threat or problem before recognizing anything positive or majestic.
For example, if a tiger is approaching, instinctively, we do not marvel at its majesty; instead, our brain quickly assesses the danger—“How do I escape?” or “Can I survive this?” This negativity bias is crucial for survival but can distort our perception of reality, making the world seem more threatening than it actually is.
