These elements often fuel radical Islamic movements that exacerbate unrest and inhibit sustained development. The ongoing cycle of conflict and upheaval diverts resources, discourages investment, and destabilizes social cohesion, all of which are detrimental to economic progress.
The question remains: when will the people of the Middle East collectively recognize the need for a different approach? Adoption of responsibility for their own futures is seen as a necessary step toward stability and prosperity.
