NPR's claim of neutrality seems at odds with how some outlets, and indeed many commentators, frame political violence. Often, there's a tendency to hint that such violence is a direct consequence of specific political figures or ideologies—particularly that of former President Donald Trump. While it is factual that threats and attacks against lawmakers are documented, the narrative frequently shifts to attribute blame solely to one side, sometimes without adequate substantiation.
