Twenty-four years ago, in 2000, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) established a foundational measure for autism prevalence. According to the CDC, approximately one in 150 children was diagnosed with autism at that time. These numbers served as a baseline for understanding how common autism was within the population and were based on the diagnostic standards then in use.
