Part 4/12:
Ukrainian interceptors deploy a combination of fixed-wing and quadcopter-style missiles designed for different operational scenarios. Fixed-wing interceptors can track incoming drones over long distances, utilizing advanced 3D radar networks and acoustic sensors to detect, track, and predict the flight paths of approaching threats.
For close-range defense, fast pursuit interceptors—like the well-known Sting, developed by Wild Hornets—are launched to collide with or destroy incoming drones within minutes. These interceptors typically operate with a four-person fire team comprising a pilot, navigator, drone technician, and sometimes an armorer to modify warheads for different missions.
