Others, such as the extinct Giant Beavers, built enormous dams—massive structures that transformed waterways and created lush habitats. These dam builders were nature’s engineers, their work influencing ecosystems far beyond human influence.
There were also the Dire Wolves, pack hunters larger and stronger than modern wolves, forming tight-knit teams to hunt prey much bigger than themselves. Encircled by howling packs, early humans knew that even familiar animals could turn deadly when pushed to their limits, adding another layer to their understanding of survival.
