Palantir’s Mission: Applying Silicon Valley Ingenuity to National and Global Challenges
At its core, Palantir aimed to adapt Silicon Valley's culture of innovation, rapid development, and out-of-the-box thinking to sectors where complexity and bureaucracy historically slowed progress—namely, government, intelligence, the defense industry, and large corporations.
The company's high-level goal was to transform how these institutions handle data. They believed that a significant portion—over a hundred billion dollars annually—was being spent on various data services and infrastructure, often riddled with inefficiencies and overspending. Many projects failed to deliver solutions within budget or timeframes, and their results sometimes fell short of expectations.
