Why Claims of “Successful Socialism” Are Misleading
Many proponents claim that China exemplifies successful socialism because the CCP still calls itself a communist party or because of high GDP numbers. However, these claims are fundamentally flawed:
- Confusing Socialism and Capitalism:
All modern economies are mixed to some degree, combining elements of socialism and capitalism. True socialism involves collective ownership of the means of production and suppression of private property rights—features incompatible with a functioning free market. When socialists claim that China “combines” socialism with a free market, they are conflating different systems.
