Mainstream Western media often ignore or distort these facts, favoring a narrative that depicts the Islamic Republic as a legitimate and justified regime. Conversely, many Iranians view Western leftist and progressive support for Islamists and radicals as a continuation of failed policies that historically supported anti-Western, anti-imperialist narratives—labels that have often served as smokescreens for regimes' authoritarianism.
The current wave of protests, especially inside mosques, exposes the falsehood of these narratives. Iranians are calling for their true history, identity, and future—including the monarchy—that they believe best represents their nation.
