In a recent clinical trial, researchers explored the effects of Bosellia Serrata, particularly its active compound AKBA (Acetyl-11-keto-β-boswellic acid), in people suffering from osteoarthritis-related knee pain. The study recruited men and women aged 40 to 80 who had experienced joint discomfort for at least three months. Participants agreed to discontinue their regular pain medications before beginning the trial to isolate the effects of the supplement.
Subjects were divided into three groups: a placebo group, a low-dose group receiving 100 mg daily of a patented extract called FiveLokin, and a high-dose group taking 250 mg daily. Over the course of 90 days, participants' pain levels, joint function, and specific inflammation markers were meticulously monitored.
