Sizzling to Perfection
Heating a pan with a couple of tablespoons of oil, the tofu is added once the oil reaches just the right temperature. The goal here is to let the tofu develop a golden, slightly charred exterior—flipping it minimally. After cooking until it achieves that delightful crispiness, it is set aside to make way for the creamy rice and colorful vegetables.
Crafting the Coconut Rice Base
For a creamy base, medium grain rice, like Calrose or Arborio, is recommended. These varieties create that velvety texture reminiscent of risotto, where grains nearly melt into one another. After rinsing the rice until the water runs clear, we turn our attention to the vegetables.
