Gently pour and smooth the batter over the arranged pineapples and cherries in the pan. To catch any potential drips or spills, place the cake pan on a rimmed baking sheet before transferring it to your preheated oven. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes, checking that a skewer inserted in the center comes out clean.
If the cake is browning too quickly, a tent of aluminum foil can be placed over it after 30 minutes to prevent overcooking the top.
Finishing Touches
Once baked, allow the cake to rest in the pan for about 15 minutes. This time allows the cake to firm up slightly before you invert it onto a serving plate. After allowing it to cool for 20 additional minutes, it can be cut and served.
