Work on yourself. Focus on creating the most amount of value

$1

A lot of people I talk to nowadays want to make it big in life. They want to live the influencer lifestyle, traveling forever, driving lambos and waking up at 4:00am to stuff their face in a bowl of ice water only to rub a banana peel on it and hover in mid air for four minutes.

$1

Ain't going to judge.

But unless your rich aunt Agnes died and left you a buttload of money from three generations ago, it ain't going to happen by magic.

Here's a list of some of the top earning CEOs of 2023:

I may or may not have snuck in one or two. I can neither confirm nor deny.

For simplicity, let's assume these CEOs worked 40 hours a week. If their paycheck is $100,000,000 a year these guys are earning $50K every hour! Contrast that with minimum wage in the US which was $7.50 and you might ask yourself

Aren't all human beings worth the same?

Well... they certainly don't get paid the same, that's for sure. But if time is worth the same, why the heck not???

As the good Jim Rohn used to say...

You don't get paid for time. You get paid for the value you bring to the marketplace.

We could always sit around and wait for a raise, right?

I mean... you could, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

We could wait for the bull run too. haha.

But perhaps the most effective way of getting more money is to become more valuable to the people around you.

Now, $50,0000 per hour might be a bit steep for most of us, I get it, but how about $50/per every hour worked, or $69? That's certainly within the realm of possibility, isn't it? and it's without a doubt a decent chunk of change for a full-time gig too.

I don't know what your number is, but you can definitely increase whatever you're making now if you sprinkle a little bit more value on whatever it is you're doing for starters, and yes, that includes writing blog posts and creating videos.

If you're a designer, make your work a little more compelling. If you're a waiter, learn a few quips and practice effective communication. If you're a content creator, teach your audience and capture their attention. In every field and in every country on the planet there are problems that need to be solved and the marketplace will pay premium for those who do a better job at solving them.

Pretty easy, right?

Haha, it's easier said than done, but not impossible. Start by improving your craft by 1% and take it from there. Baby steps go a long way when done consistently over a long period of time.

Anyway, you and me are in this together, so see you on the other side.

Write a comment if you found the easter egg.

CEO pay seems to have rocketed in recent decades. Guess who gets to decide it? I think it's pretty obscene really and they ought to be taxed more. Yes I do think taxation is valid. It's not like they will suffer if they make $60m instead of $80m. Of chouse loopholes need to be closed to stop them dodging it.

For the rest of us it needs to be viable to earn a living wage. If you choose to work for yourself then it's up to you to make it work. I've always been a 'wage slave', but I like the certainty of getting paid :)

You can certainly work on yourself to be more valuable if you're employed. You can also work on yourself to add more value if you're in a band :)

If someone is content with how much money they are making, that's fine. For anybody out there wanting to earn a bit more, my advice is to focus on creating more value and they will figure out a way.

As for CEO salaries, I'm positive not a single one of them would suffer from being slapped with extra taxes on their already obscene paychecks, haha.

I like that Quote by Jim Rohn. It describes the Value4Value principle very well.

Jim Rohn was an amazingly talented human being. The cool thing about this philosophy is that you can start creating more value for those around you right now, with $0 investment. How far can you take it? Sky's the limit.

We could wait for the bull run too. haha.

I think I'll wait for the bull run.

I was a teacher in the past, and worked 8 to 5 for a period of seven years in the same job. Sadly the effort we put into the job mostly helped the administrators and owners of the job earn more, and we only earned the same money for many years, while getting only two salary increase in 7 years. It's just how it's meant to be.

@tipu curate

Working a regular job is a blessing, but like you said, the ones that benefit the most are the owners. By working on ourselves and developing valuable skills, we can become more valuable to those around us and we'll be able to offer services to them directly.

Two salary increases in 7 years is probably not even enough to keep up with inflation.

That was the problem. It wasn't enough to even keep inflation at bay but these work owners didn't care. We actually had skills, but it was difficult to raise money to be established as an entrepreneur. It's a blessing to have a regular job with good pay prospects

The banana peel and ice water routine looks like a billionaire’s secret ritual I clearly missed out on. I guess I’ll stick to adding value the old fashioned way, one blog at a time. Thank you Mr Alex

There's tons of jokes about this morning routine on socials. You can write one blog at a time, but ask yourself if you can develop a skill that people would be willing to give you money for.

Now that's special, to be able to do that is basically the beginning of winning in life.

The value we offer is a major determinant
