An interesting comparison is to consider the Cuban Missile Crisis, when the US was prepared to start a nuclear war because the USSR put nuclear missiles within 1200 miles of Washington, and the current one, where Ukraine in NATO would put US nuclear missiles within 300 miles of Moscow. How did they expect Russia to react ?
What I found interesting in the interview was the vast cultural gulf. I suspect a lot of the interview will go over the heads of a Western audience used to a snappy back and forth with concepts dumbed down to their absolute simplest form. If I've understood the Russian mindset correctly, then understanding the historical context means you should be able to work out (and actually understand) the answer to the question yourself. I guess they still teach critical thinking over there.....
True. The whole thing started because of the supposed NATO expansion in Ukraine. That’s what many refuse to see.
No, that's not why the whole thing started. That is just what Putin told you. And apparently you just assume he is telling the truth, because after all, why would he possibly lie? Has the ring of a similar answer from Trump on the same topic, doesn't it?
Does it really make sense to you, this argument that it was a concern about nuclear missiles that caused Putin to invade Ukraine? Give what I assume is a normal understanding of military armament possessed by the US and by Russia, does this really make sense to you?
What’s your take then on all the matters you are asking me as if I ever mentioned in this post that I agree entirely with Putin?
I am quite hard to fool, you should know… I called the pandemic a scam since day one, never wore a mask or took any vaccine.
There would have been no war if there would have been no talks regarding a potential integration of Ukraine in NATO. Will make a more detailed post on this matter a bit later.
When the only choices available are a side of the same coin. No matter what happens, it will be to the benefit of a side, that does not hold the ideology it speaks.
The only way to bring any substantial change is to mint a new coin. Then the game is no longer Heads or Tails.
Of course and it is very different because we are in a different era. During the cold war a war between US and USSR could erupt every day so it is different trying to send Nuclear Missiles in a place that can launch the into Mainland USSR than a whole country wanting to turn to NATO and the "west" . If you were Ukrainian would you want to live like a European or like a Russian?
