Blockchain Gaming: Taking Pages out of Hollywood and Triple A Games Books - OR

in LeoFinance3 years ago (edited)

Coffee done poured and mind is racing.

It's no secret that lately both Hollywood and the AAA game have been milking their most popular IPs until the last drop, and time after time people flock to consume the newest iteration.

Copy Proven Formula - Paste:

Take Tobey Maguire Spiderman for example. How many have there been these last 2 decades? Wanna bet the one to be released this year will also do numbers despite the cinematic constraints?.

In the gaming realm we have FIFA that's shipped out every year. Although one of my favorite sagas, I haven't played a recent edition but I heard it's now also plagued by pointless micro transactions that yield you nothing. I assume the same applies to MADDEN as it's now also under EA.

A la Motherland:

My point is when an IP hits it really hits. My point is we should create an NFT game based on a somewhat mainstream African IP as it would be relatively cheaper. A child friendly one would be preferable, and with it we'd try to replicate the same halo effect. Sure, Halo is another example for the previous paragraph, quit sidetracking me.

How would this work?

If hypothetically we were past the proposal stage, we'd chainstorm on African IPs that most from the continent would gravitate towards. Once consensus would be reached we'd reach out to the rights holders of that IP, let them in on it and if possible, we'd get some of the rights and come to agreements that would benefit all parties. If not, rinse repeat with other properties.

To incintivize entrepreneurs and regional politicians to support the movement, we'd offer 20-30% of the related token(s) distribution(s) and dividends. That percentage would be divided into paying the original authors, the entrepreneurs willing to take the risks, and helping fund either the schooling, arts, infrastructure and/or other sectors/services of that region as per agreement.

Some IP Ideas:

We could look more into them if this discussion catches interest.

Kirikou

  • Kirikou.(Technically French, extremely popular with Francophone countries and in West Africa.) Kirikou n'est pas grand mais il est...

  • Ubongo Kids.

  • Koba.

  • Comment if you know more.

Alternative Proposition:

There are a lot of African authors and cartoonists who lack the funds and connections to bring their visions to life. We could scout the interwebs, more specifically kickstarter sites and start discussions with artists who are willing and have interesting stories with potential.

Same as with the previous propsition, we'd come to agreements out of which everyone comes out gains, and use the same token(s) distribution(s) for the same reasons.

For this proposition, the author would also keep the last say on which paths their stories would take, while also giving us cliff notes so that the cartoon/series and the crypto game version organically grow together.

Advantages of Both Propositions:

  • Relatively cheap IPs to acquire.

  • Support the African educational and entertainment industries.

  • Good way to introduce Blockchain/Crypto and Play2earn models.

  • Unlike regular AAA games you actually earn from your gaming. Ingame purchases actually have value and can be resold for cold cash

  • Diversification of income for the African youth.

  • Web 3.0 in action.

  • Etc.

Hurdles for Both Propositions:

  • Crypto still not mainstream and sometimes frowned upon in most African countries, getting IP holders to partake might be a hassle.

  • Money games for children? Won't go easy with parents, not one bit.

  • Not a a lot of skilled blockchain devs in the Motherland. Boots on the ground could be expensive.

  • Corruption is quite high and unavoidable in some areas.

  • Would most likely be very expensive to fund.

  • Africans don't have a lot of disposable cash when compared to Westerners, could lead to the project taking much more time to take off.

  • Etc.

Conclusion:

So, yeah. Sure, if we went through with this and it paid dividends we wouldn't have the loyalty and reach titans such as Hollywood or the Triple A game industry have but, Rome wasn't built in a few day and neither will it's digital version.

Just spit balling here, feel free to let me know your thoughts;

PEACE!!

I agree with you, NFT should be created.

Africa is becoming younger and more technology dependent. It is a huge market and has the highest growth potential. The crypto space has already shown its interest, look at Cardano's Ethiopia deal. Stabilizing the governments virtual identities in those countries via blockchain is the beginning. Then comes selling them NFTs, ha!

Yeah, slowly by slowly the adoption will come.

Great handle btw.
