I recently heard about Skate Hive and how they forked the ecency frontend to make their own standalone hive dapp.
This can be a great way for communties to focus more on adoption and helping Hive going mainstream... imagine having 30+ communities doing their own marketing and PR promoting their frontend, at least one of them has to go mainstream right? And if one does, it will ultimately help Hive in terms of userbase and adoption.
On the other hand, could this trump Hive's growth in terms of being "A place for every topic, and every person"?

Why would a frontend going mainstream cause any other aspect of Hive to become lessened? All posts can be accessed via any frontend, after all :) ...

As I mention in the video, the frontends supposedly only show posts published within the niche Community, not every single post published on Hive. Thanks for your support!
Still, once they get involved, it'll be just like when one gets involved with anything else. Games, installing freeware, joining Discord servers, etc. Do you ever stop after just one, or do you try to find out if there's more out there?

My point was: If a gardener finds HiveGarden.app, they'll stay there as a frontend even if they like books. A small chunk of the userbase will actually go to peakd to find other content. Some will, but most won't, cause they already found what they were looking for.
Maybe we need to have guides and such visible on all frontends?
Building another fronted on top of ecency, hive is getting more user's Base that's awesome, skate come on the right time, all way up
Only time will tell, I have my doubts about whether this is good or bad for hive. We haven't reached mainstream and we have a very small userbase that is about to get decimated into several frontends.
