On the topic of PCR tests:
In relation to the "trust science" argument:
It's problematic to assert that "trust science" equals "trust authority" and therefore you should distrust the arguments of scientists. That is the playbook that the peddlers of conspiracy theories and the anti-science crowd use to push their stone age line of thinking.
That doesn't mean that some political groups will not use that argument to discredit their rivals.
If a politician uses that argument we should always take it with a grain of salt but it doesn't mean that on a specific case the argument is invalid just because it is used by someone in that position. I am sure that it is some sort of logical fallacy to discredit an idea because the proponent is not trustworthy (the story of the boy that cried wolf comes to mind).

It's also problematic to allow the sociopaths in charge to build a policy on the idea that "life is sacred" and we need to save as many lives as possible no matter what. They don't care and they are liars.
50% of the population should die.
Prove me wrong.
What is going on right now is akin to the whole "think of the children" arguments out there.
The people saying these things don't care about the children or anyone but themselves and their little tribe.
They are tapping in to the emotions of the public and manipulating opinion for personal gain.
This is nothing new: tribalism reigns supreme. This is failure to scale on a societal level.
Even more problematic when all of the absurd restrictions and mandates they impose are clearly designed to maximize death, misery and economic damage. A lot of people just think they are incredibly stupid and inept and that it is an accident that every intervention they impose has the opposite effect that it is supposed to. It seems a lot more like they know exactly what the results of their interventions will be. For example it is well known that the unemployment and suicide rates correlate closely with each other. To the point where for every percentage the unemployment rate increases there is something like a one percent increase in the suicide rate. They knew that putting millions of people out of work would cause a lot of young people to die and not save anyone's life, so that is what they did.
Yeah I think the evidence is pretty clear when COVID positive patients are allowed in to old-folks homes on purpose. They know exactly what they are doing.
Just because the democrats have an agenda it doesn't deny the fact that the republican party is littered with evangelicals who deny science as a matter of principal. I could be wrong but as far as I know behind every antiscience piece of legislation there is a republican promoting it (at least in recent history).
The following is an "old" example:
https://www.nature.com/news/revamped-anti-science-education-bills-in-united-states-find-success-1.21986
So my argument still stands...just because the democrats have other motivations it doesn't deny the fact that a good portion of the republican party is anti-science.
The republican party is anti-science as long as that view leads to exploitative profits. The democratic party is pro-science as long as that view leads to exploitative profits. There seems to be a common denominator here.
I don't disagree.
I can't prove wrong something that is not backed by any arguments. Proving a negative is a bitch.
Democrats have been trying to tar Republicans as "anti Science" or saying they "don't believe in science" when of course that is utter nonsense. Turns out they are just using CCP talking points they used to smear the Falun Gong. They call them "anti-Science" and say "they don't believe in science". These same people call men "women" and say that is scientific.
My comment is not constrained to the US political paradigm. I could care less about US politics since I don't live there. The point I am making is that just because one side has an agenda it doesn't mean that what they are saying is untrue. That is logic 1.0.1.
A big portion of the republican party is comprised of christian fundamentilists and the core of their beliefs is anti science. I mean you can't get more antiscience than denying that evolution is real or that the earth is older than 6000 years (to name a couple of examples).
Historically both parties have engaged in combating the discoveries of science when those ran contrary to the interests of their donors and the lobbies that they represent. When scientists determined that smoking caused cancer or that the led contant in gasoline was very bad for human health they fought tooth and nail against regulation of the industries involved.
Both parties rely on the donations of big companies that are only looking up for their interests. They are the opposite faces of the same coin. Equating one of them to the CCP is frankly naive.
What percent of the Trump voters do you think believes the earth is 6000 years old?
Funny how you thought my comment about Chinese propaganda being used elsewhere was somehow limited to the US paradigm. Nothing is more anti science than claiming that men are women and yet Republicans don't use the CCP "anti science" claim on Democrats here in the US. Clearly the CCP has a lot of sway with establishment Republicans as well.
I don't know what percentage of trump voters believe that the earth is much younger than what science has determined but I do know that a sizable portion of them are christian evangelicals (millions of them). By definition they believe in the literal truth of the Bible (a good portion of my extended family are evangelicals and they live in the US and are trump supporters).
It is through my relatives that I am aware of what goes on in that community via their facebook posts. I agree that men are men and women are women (biologically) but I also believe that everyone has the right to be addressed in whatever gender denomination they prefer and should not be discriminated or harrassed because of it. But I digress.
Have you ever considered that labeling something as originating from the CCP is nothing more than a modern variation of the "red scare" tactics used in the 1950s by politicians to discredit anyone that has a different view on the world? Since it is ingrained in the US psyche that communism is bad some politicians just need to appeal to that sentiment to sway certain portion of the population to their side even if the positions of their opponents have nothing to do with communism.
My preferred pronoun is "your majesty" if you misgender me you are a bigot.
The Soviet Union was a legitimate threat to America, communism is bad. But the Soviets were no where as near as big a threat as the CCP currently represents. Communism is the greatest evil in modern times. You know that China operates concentration camps for dissidents and ethnic minorities and harvests their organs for profit right?
Do you know that the wait time for any organ transplant in China is two weeks?
The CCP is communist in name only, when they were really communists they were too busy doing what communists do, starving, to be much of a threat to us. Since they went fascist they have the resources to achieve their goals of world domination and are well on their way. Have you not read The Art of War?
I am very aware of what the CCP is. That doesn't take away from the fact that in the USA the "old but tested" tactic of labeling their adversaries as communist (or communist puppets) is used by both political parties to score votes from their citizens.
When the democrats shout Rusia! Rusia! they are are exploting the decades long antisoviet propaganda that americans are so used to. When Trump repeated China! China! he was doing the same.
The US is ruled by an oligarchy that funds two political parties. Repeating their propaganda is just playing into their games and distracting from the fact that workers and small businesses are financial slaves of american oligarchs.
I disagree that communism is the greatest evil in modern times. Fascism is the greatest threat to humanity. Sometimes fascism wears a comunist mask and sometimes they use a nationalist or realigious one...it doesn't matter either way.
Oh and Your Majesty has a nice ring to it...but it's not a gender denomination ¯_(ツ)_/¯

As usual that is an example of the Democrats projecting what they are doing. They really did work with the chicoms to rig the election. In fact they are quite predictable like that. Indeed the establishment of both parties are owned by the Chicoms, we can see that in today's vote.
It's a gender denomination if I say it is and if you say anything different then you are a transphobic bigot.
