Oldest Major Hollywood Studios
Universal Studios is not the oldest major Hollywood studio.
- Paramount Pictures was founded in 1912, the same year as Universal Studios.
- Warner Bros. was founded in 1903 as Duquesne Amusement & Supply Company, and later became Warner Bros. in 1923.
- Nestor Film Company, founded in 1911, is considered the first film studio in Hollywood.
- Thomas Edison's film studio, founded in 1888, is one of the earliest film studios in the United States.
Early Film Studios
Other early film studios include Biograph Company (founded in 1895) and Vitagraph Company (founded in 1895). These studios played a significant role in the development of the film industry, with some eventually merging or evolving into the major studios we know today.
