History of Typhoon Lagoon
Typhoon Lagoon is a water park located at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. It opened on June 1, 1989, as the first water park at Walt Disney World. The park was designed to resemble a tropical island that had been hit by a typhoon, with a shipwreck, waterfalls, and a lazy river.
The park has undergone several expansions and renovations over the years, including the addition of new attractions like the Ketchakiddee Creek play area and the Miss Adventure Falls water slide.
Theming and Attractions
Typhoon Lagoon is themed around a tropical island, with attractions like the Storm Slides, the Mayday Falls raft ride, and the lazy river, Castaway Creek. The park also features a wave pool, a surf pool, and a snorkeling area where guests can swim with fish and other marine life.
