People don't truly understand how AI brings about “abundance”

You know how people sometimes say that humans don't really “create things” but simply “reconstruct” what has already existed?

Well, if your idea of “creation” leans heavily on mystical works, then yes, you're right that humans have not really created anything, we've all just mixed shit together to form something else.

Matter of fact, the above paragraph I've written that you've read isn't even a creation, it's just a reconstruction of words that you may have now found meaning to.

If you take a second to think about that, you'll probably not need to read the rest of this article.

One thing I always find amusing when it comes to language for instance is how different groups of people around the world use the English alphabet to form their own communication system but somehow believe they are not speaking “English.”

Well, I'm quite sorry to break it to you but it's still English, just that the words are not recognized. You can talk about Chinese and I'd agree because that's a truly different language system, but, I digress, for a good reason.

But…

Let's get back on track.

AI, yes.

Reconstruction of what has already existed. Data reconstruction, someone needs to check up on Twitter folks going nuts daily due to generative AI creating great art and images, it's just doing what humans have been doing for years, hello? No knowledge is an island, remember?

Speaking of knowledge, I think a big reason why people struggle with loving and embracing technological advancements is that they often want to distance science from the things they believe in.

In truth, science is consistent with every belief system you can think of. Of course, this doesn't mean that it agrees with the lies that may exist in any or all, just that it shares a link with all that most people miss.

Munch on this, before you do something, you have to think, to you you're doing something mystical — some formal phrases like making abstract connections is typically used — but what you're really doing is recollecting every data(knowledge) gathered over specific periods and trying to piece it together to achieve something fresh.

This is why writers for instance get better with the more they read. If I go back years of articles I've posted since I started writing on Hive, I sometimes feel embarrassed. My improvement has come from consistently reading new things and thinking on them.

Artificial intelligence does nothing different from what we do everyday, it's called mimicking for a reason but some struggle with this because it sounds like the lack of “originality”.

It takes pieces of data and tries to find something fresh. You can slap terms like hallucination on them all you want, but it's no different from what we do regularly, it's really that consistent.

So no, AI did not really “steal” that art work or writing, it was inspired by it and reconstructed to create something new. This is partly why regulating this piece of technology is going to be really difficult.

Now, to talk about abundance. Abundance in the age of AI comes because artificial intelligence will be able to do what would generally take much more time for humans to do.

Certainly sounds like a pretty basic reason or something one would already know right?

But this isn't the case. When I talk about doing stuff, I'm not just referring to doing your laundry faster, I'm talking about independent or triggered analysis of data to create new value from reconstructions.

As humans, we are largely limited to how much data we can analyze and this limits our idea of what's “valuable” and essentially what we build for ourselves. AI will not have this limitation and that directly leads to much more value being created.

Think about every single thing you've ever considered not being valuable. The age of AI will see a lot of things that were previously considered low-value or not valuable at all now contributing a lot of value to our world simply because it can do better analysis of data and attain more value through reconstruction.

This is how abundance is achieved. AI accelerates discovery through reconstructing data and we get new cool stuff.

Boom-shakala.

It was fascinating to see the trend on X where everyone was uploading famous memes in studio Ghibli-style. It really showcased how AI can synthesize imagery better than any human ever could, and how disruptive it will be to many industries.
