It was Carter and Brzezinski that decided to pay for the improved relationship with China that Kissinger and Nixon secured, pay years later, seven years later, Kissinger throughout his time, both in the Nixon administration and the Ford administration kept pushing the Chinese off because they kept saying, well, when are you going to withdraw from Taiwan? When are you going to recognize us? And he was like, just wait, just wait, we'll get to it. Right. And Brzezinski and Carter come in and they say, why don't we pay them? Even though we've already secured the price, which was the detente with the Soviet Union, why don't we open up China? We draw from Taiwan, recognize China, and we are where we are today because of that fateful decision for which we really, except for the economic benefit, then I don't want to underestimate them.
