Land of Desire. I don't know if you're familiar with it, but it's a history, it was written in 1992. It's a history of consumer capitalism from the late 19th century to the early 20th. And I remember this one particular scene when he tied abstract art, the rise of abstract art, to not specifically people riding in railcars, but the experience of riding in a rail car and seeing the landscape move so quickly by was an abstract experience of the land.
