Looks like this project has restarted and has its very own blockchain. Its still early stages however you are able to create your login and you'll have 20 MUSING (testnet)
Loads of questions .. How, What, When and Where .. well .. thats still yet to be announced and waiting. This was indeed one really cool project which had great potential, looking forward for its relaunch.

Unfortunate that they are not on Hive... Any idea/reason as to why they choose not to migrate?
no idea .. only found out they are on a new blkchain like 2 days ago. no other details were revealed yet

Quello tried but it had limited users. Interface was nice tho. I think the proposal for it is still up.
Right, it could be incorporated into existing frontends like Ecency.com and all question answers could be under one community and with dedicated community layout, it is basically ready...
They probably wanted control over ecosystem(as most people who create their own chains seem to want). It can't be easier than using what already exists. Someone should start a competitor again.

it was a project a few years ago which went silent after delegation from steemit inc was pulled

I think this trend to create your own blockchain for your applications is very weird. They are not the first to do it. But it has only disadvantages imo: The network is so much more centralized, it's unsafer, it has less features and pretty much no existent ecosystem. Well, I don't get it.
